TAF or TAFNY The Targeted Accessibility Fund of New York, Inc is a creation of the New York State Public Service Commission to administer the funding for targeted programs consisting of Lifeline Service, Enhanced 911, Telecommunications Relay Service, and Public Interest payphones.
E911 Enhanced 911 is a service that consumers use to call for emergency help such as fire, police, or ambulance services. Enhanced 911 or E911 as it is referred to give the emergency call center the exact location of the calling party via the calling party phone number thus allowing for quicker response times.
New York Lifeline Service Lifeline service is a discounted traditional residential phone service provided to individuals that qualify for certain entitlement programs, outlined by the New York State Public Service Commission. For additional information contact your local telephone company.
Public Interest Payphone A public interest payphone is payphone at a given location which is in accordance with the federal public interest payphone definition and or regulations. In New York State the location is determined by the New York State Public Service Commission Office of Communications.
TAF Monthly Estimate Form This form is used by companies to report their monthly estimated intrastate regulated revenue, intercompany payments, and where applicable Lifeline, and E911 costs. It is used to determine each company’s funding obligation to the TAF.
TAF Adjustment Form An adjustment form is used to true up or adjust a company’s monthly estimates. This will assure that the numbers supplied to TAF tie out to the company’s actual numbers.
TAF Annual Forecast This is an annual revenue and expense projection provided to TAF.
TAF Policy and Procedures Manual This manual lays out the methods, procedures, obligations, and rules as they pertain to the operation, contributions, and requirements of the Fund and its participants.
NY PSC Order and Opinion 98-10 This is the New York State Public Service Commission Order that established the creation of the Targeted Accessibility Fund of New York, Inc.
NY PSC PIP Order PSC Order which affected TAF by creating the Public Interest Payphone funding. Cases 96-C-1174, 93-C-0142 and 94-C-0095.
TAF Monthly Reporting Schedule The TAF reporting schedule notes when the monthly reports are due to TAF for any given month as well as when the invoices are issued.
Telecommunications Relay Service Telecommunications Relay Service is telephone service that allows deaf, hard of hearing, speech impaired, and non-impaired individuals to communicate via a telecommunications relay center manned by Communications Operators.
